TS EAMCET Exam date, New dates for Telangana EAMCET 2016: The Telangana Government has decided to conduct the Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) 2016 for admission into engineering, medical, agriculture and allied colleges on May 15. Earlier, the exam was scheduled to be held on May 2 but was postponed after private colleges refused permission for use of their premises after the government announced a vigilance regime to keep a tab on the functioning of these colleges.

Announcing the schedule here on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister K. Srihari stated that the competitive exam for engineering stream would be held from 10 am to 1 pm and for agriculture and medical stream from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. A total of 1,44,501 students have applied for the engineering stream and 1,01,987 for agriculture and medical stream.

The students can download their hall-tickets from May 12 from the official website of the council of higher education and the results/ranks would be announced on May 27.  Officials said the Eamcet would be held only in govt educational institutions and staff from pvt colleges would not be deployed to oversee the test. The online agricultural and medical stream test would be held at Hyderabad and Warangal.

Closed-circuit television cameras would be installed in all exam centres to detect malpractices and irregularities. He said the counselling would be held in June and classes for the academic year 2016-17 would commence from July 1.

The State is going ahead with the exam for medicine aspirants even as there is an uncertainty over the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). The Supreme Court has reportedly agreed to hear a batch of petitions including Jammu & Kashmir and other states including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh which have petitioned the court for allowing the scheduled medical entrance to take place.

Private colleges would not be allotted exam centres in view of their strike opposing the vigilance inspections. The tests would be held in state and Central government educational institutions.
